💬 Meet Carrie: From South Florida to Starr Village — A Journey of Healing, Strength, and Family

If you've ever walked through the doors at Starr Village CrossFit and felt the warm welcome, the grounded energy, and the sense of purpose — you've already felt Carrie’s impact. She's not only the co-owner of the gym alongside her husband, Kelvin, but also a coach in life, food, and wellness by the way she lives.

Her journey is one of transformation, healing, grit, and family — and we’re so excited to share more of her story with you.

🌴 Born in the Sunshine, Shaped by Resilience
Carrie was born and raised in South Florida, but her path led her to East Tennessee — where she’s built a beautiful life, family, and community. She's been living in Athens, TN off and on for the last 11 years, and for the past 3.5 years, it’s once again become her full-time home.

But her life wasn’t always centered around health.

💥 From Debilitating Migraines to a New Way of Living
Over a decade ago, Carrie found herself stuck in a cycle of debilitating migraines, exhaustion, and chronic discomfort. Conventional medicine wasn’t giving her answers, and she knew something had to change. That’s when she took matters into her own hands.

She began a personal journey with:

Functional medicine
Acupuncture
And a complete elimination and food allergy-based diet
It wasn’t easy — but it was life-changing.

This was the beginning of her healing — not just from migraines, but from years of feeling disconnected from her body. It was also the beginning of something else big…

🏋️‍♀️ Enter CrossFit — and Kelvin
While Carrie was deep in her food allergy and fitness journey, she discovered CrossFit — and with it, Kelvin. They met through the CrossFit community, where she was showing up consistently, pushing herself, and changing her life day by day.

In just about a year, she lost over 100 pounds — not through quick fixes, but through hard work, clean eating, and relentless focus.

CrossFit didn’t just change her body — it introduced her to her future husband.

❤️ Family First: Life with Kelvin and Flynn
Carrie and Kelvin have now been married for 6 years, and together they’re raising their sweet son, Flynn, who’s 4 years old. Flynn is full of energy and curiosity — and he’s part of the reason Carrie is so passionate about real food and clean living. Like Carrie, Flynn has food allergies, which inspires much of the way their family eats and lives.

They live on a peaceful 20-acre property, where they raise chickens, grow their own food almost year-round, and live out the values they teach inside the gym: strength, self-sufficiency, and community.

🌿 More Than Just a Gym Owner
Carrie wears many hats — wife, mom, co-owner, gardener, and wellness advocate — but more than anything, she’s a woman who’s walked through struggle and chosen to turn it into purpose.

She loves helping others:

Navigate food sensitivities or allergy-friendly eating
Explore functional wellness approaches
Grow their own food
And build sustainable, healthy habits that actually fit into real life
If you ever want to pick her brain or talk about health, chickens, gardening, or CrossFit — she’s always happy to connect.
